Growth mindset 101 – Become stronger than ever!

Are we too weak to become strong? Our weaknesses are usually some particles of ourselves we naturally want to hide from the world. It’s partly because of the rhetoric we’ve got used to. Society’s pressure on the performance, output and fixtures is so huge that we are very often obliged to hide our weak spots, otherwise, we would be disqualified from the corporate races or school systems. When you make a mistake in the school, you get punished by obtaining a worse mark. When you make a mistake at your workplace, you know punishment is coming. There is a chance you are going to lose your job or at least some amount of money. We’ve created an environment where you can easily get fired or penalised for making a mistake. This environment is literally damaging our sense of creativity, productivity and fulfilment. Furthermore, social media exposure is not making it much better. Instagram is full of polished lives, perfect lifestyles and overpriced items to impress the whole world. We’ve got used to not perceiving the reality as it is. We’re constantly putting filters on our lives and this is very dangerous.

The way we perceive our weaknesses must be changed. We need to adjust our minds to a brand new mindset – to a growth mindset. We need a growth mindset in order to improve in  anything we do. If you want to be generally more successful, you should be able to adjust your mindset first. Don’t be weak to be strong. It’s normal to suck at something, however, it’s also as normal to get better at things. You can become a superhuman if you want to. You’ve got absolutely no limits. There’s only a lot of work ahead of you.


You don’t have to be weak for a lifetime

If you are weak now it doesn’t mean you have to stay weak for your whole life.

The key principle when dealing with our weak spots is to not accept them as unchangeable. We have to think in terms of dynamics and constantly change ourselves. The only way to become better at something is to change ourselves. The change means the progress. The progress is dependent on changing the habits we have, the attitude we keep and the work ethic we put into the system. Changing is absolutely inevitable for reaching our goals.


What does it take to develop a growth mindset?

This type of mindset is based literally on constant changes. That is a growth. That is the way to your progress. In other words, you need to be constantly transforming your portfolio of skills and abilities from the beginner level to the pro level. The aim of the growth mindset is to help you to achieve all the aims you want to reach in order to fulfil your real potential. Because you have a huge potential. You can become anything you want only if you have the courage to change yourself as much as it is needed to succeed. There is no other way than being flexible enough when you are facing one obstacle after another.


Rename your weak sides!

Even the naming of our weak sides could be done differently. What if we call them the areas of development. Doesn’t it sound way better? If you name them like that you probably won’t have too many problems working on them and developing yourself. I would highly recommend you to change your attitude towards your weaknesses by simply avoiding the word weakness. It’s not your dominant skill, but why to call it that way? It is unnecessary and actually very demotivating. In contrast, if you rename your weakness with the phrase area of development, it gives you the determination and the feeling of the actual need to progress and work hard on it.


Comfort zone waiting for you to leave it!

According to Ryan Holiday, by surrounding yourself with people smarter than you, putting yourself out of your comfort zone and accepting your lack of knowledge, you can learn a lot more. The most effective way to learn is to leave your comfort zone. Whenever you can, do what scares you or at least something that makes you feel uncomfortable. You’ll become a way more resistant and independent person. You’ll also learn how to be more disciplined by forcing yourself every single day to get up from your sofa and make the most of your life.


Network a lot!

The power of having a strong network is immense! I can not even stress out the meaning of it! It is so huge… You should be aware of the fact that very often in life it is not what you know, but who you know. Meet new people, make new contacts, promote yourself and you’ll feel the difference.


Never stop being a student

“You cannot learn something you think you already know.”



As Ryan Holiday proclaims, you should never stop being a student. Why? Because a good student is always humble. He is always humble owing to the fact he knows that someone is better, knows more and can teach him so much more. The acceptance of not necessarily becoming the smartest person of the room is so important in adopting a student mindset. Don’t be the alpha guy. Otherwise, you’ll get laughed at or you’ll scare the people, so they won’t open to you. The mindset of the lifelong student comes from the premise that you barely know something. It is based on you accepting your lack of knowledge in order to get the information from the experts. Your mind needs to be open to new ideas, ways of living and philosophy that could actually help you get yourself somewhere.


Limit your social media exposure

“The more social media we have, the more we think we’re connecting, yet we are really disconnecting from each other.”

The time you spend on social media could be helpful and absolutely alright just in case if you don’t overdo it. Try to limit your social media exposure and of course your tv and electronics in general as well. No one has to be connected all the time. You should become more independent on the influence virtual world. Enjoy the real life, it could be even more fun! Just get yourself a walk in the park. Without your phone.


Always be optimistic

Praise what you get, be grateful for what you already have and laugh at your failures. The life is there now and you never know how much of time you have left. Use your time wisely, enjoy it and share the happiness. You are created to be happy and no one should be able to make you feel bad. Smile often and find the reason to be happy. There is always something to be cheerful for.

Always be patient. Don’t wait for a miracle, but be patient. You will get there once you’ll be truly prepared. Don’t rush it, otherwise, you can fail to fail again and eventually give up.

    Many a times it’s our network that pulls us back.

    How to manage our network and limit our social network together?

  2. All very good information for helping oneself along the ways of continually changing oneself for the better. An open mind I believe I have always had but sometime I get ‘stuck’ in that comfort zone, I think we all do but just need a little reminding of what it is we are reaching for in our own lives
